Just when you thought there wasn’t anything other than the Slumdoggish Oscars to get excited about, I’d like to announce the first ever Cheap Eats / Cheaplander Prize Drawing!

I’m going to run this in conjunction with Cheap Eats, because there are so many more readers over there. But still, I don’t really expect a whole lot of entries, hence the fun name “Low Turnout Contest”. I actually have no idea how many people would want to enter a contest like this. Since 2004, I’ve wanted to set up a prize drawing to give away some of the free stuff that occasionally comes in for review. But I’ve never taken the plunge until now. It’ll be sort of a learning experience for me - depending on how this one goes, I’ll be setting up more contests in the future.
Anyway, in this case, the nice folks who handle the promotions for Long John Silver’s restaurants sent me a few free gift checks to give away. These are $5 gift checks, and I have 4 of them available. So, I’ll be giving away TWO of them each to 2 lucky winners on Cheap Eats / Cheaplander. All that’s required is that you leave a comment (any comment) on this post sometime before this Sunday, March 1, 2009. That’s nearly a whole week. Note, I’m going to disable my spam captcha protection for this week to make sure it’s simple to enter the prize drawing. However, comments are still moderated, so please do not submit your comment more than once!

Cheap Eats / Cheaplander “Low Turnout” Contest
Prize provided by Long John Silver’sTo enter this prize drawing, all you need to do is leave a comment on this post. Please make sure to fill in a valid email address since this is how the winners will be contacted. I will be using a random number generator to select the two winning entries. Each of the two winning entrants will receive TWO $5 gift checks good toward purchase of a Long John Silver’s menu item.
Cheap Eats / Cheaplander will stop accepting entries on Sunday March 1, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. PST. Only one entry will be accepted per person, and you must be 18 years or older to enter. The gift checks can only be redeemed at participating Long John Silver’s restaurants in the United States. So, I’m sorry, but the drawing is limited to entries from readers who live in the United States. The winners will be posted on both Cheap Eats and Cheaplander sometime on Monday March 2, 2009.
