I’m going to be honest and say I’m not shedding too many tears about this one. Circuit City is closing for good. Thank God.
I just have had some really horrible experiences with the Circuit City stores close to us - from bad customer service (quite an understatement) to problems returning items and broken merchandise. You name it and we’ve experienced it.
I’m sure the Circuit City close to you may have been great. But to be honest, they’re dinosaurs. From Walmart to Costco to the billions of choices on the web - there’s not to many compelling reasons to buy electronics from a store like Circuit City anymore. I feel somewhat sorry for the 34,000 workers who will be out of a job because of the shutdown. But that’s all I’m sorry for.
On a brighter note, Cheaplanders should note that closing sales have already started to take place and are experiencing a brisk business. We noted lines at some of the Circuit City stores close to us. The selloff should be finalized by March, so if you’re looking for a bargain, you’d best get out to the stores while you can. (Interesting, in Canada, Circuit City stores will remain open?)

I never cared for Circut City. They’re selection was poor, and everything was expensive compaired to anywhere else I went. When they did they’re first round of closings I got a decent graphics card to replace the nonfunctional, bargain basement card I had. Got it for $40! Less than I paid for the crappy one I was replacing!
