Sigh. I would very much like to participate in the Free Root Beer Float night at Sonic Drive-Ins that is taking place today from 8pm to midnight. I see their commercials all the time, often at night when I’m really hungry. The only problem is that, like many good interesting drive-in hamburger chains, for some reason they avoid the city of Los Angeles like the plague. They have several, and they all surround us, but are more than 20 miles away. In case you’re wondering, using their handy locator, it’s 23.06 miles to Anaheim, 38.91 miles to Palmdale, 43.7 miles to Mission Viejo, 57.91 miles to Apple Valley, and 58.39 miles to Victorville.
Hm… I think the gas to get there is going to cost more than the float.

When I become Master of the Universe I’m demolishing all the hipster restaurants in LA and replacing them with Sonic, Arby’s, In-N-Out Burger and Chick-fil-A.

@ken - if you do, I’ll be visiting that universe frequently =)

I love Sonic, unfortunately they’re always in the middle of nowhere. I got hooked on them when I was staying in Beamont Texas, where there were five. I got back to California, and the closest one was 30 miles away. Now that I live in Chicago, the closest one is only 18 miles away. Of course, now that I don’t live there any more, they put one in where my in-laws live.

This is always a problem - especially when they show the dang commercials at 11:30 at night and it makes me want to go get a burger =) I’ve been trying to work in a Chik-fil-a visit too, but it’s about 20 miles or so I think.
