I had originally posted about the McD’s Southern Style Chicken Sandwich over on Cheap Eats. They had been offering a free Southern Style Chicken Breakfast Biscuit Sandwich in the morning as well as the normal chicken sandwich on a bun for one day (May 15).
Well, just a couple of days later I received a package of stuff I bought from Amazon and it turns out they started to slip some coupons for these free sandwiches in with the stuff I ordered. Actually, it turns out for some reason 3 or 4 things I ordered so far have shipped separately and each has come with a coupon! Also, there are two coupons per insert, one for the breakfast variety and another for the normal sandwich (the normal coupon is shown to left).
I’ve been picking them up everytime I pass by a McDonald’s, and I have to say they’re not bad. I’m not sure I’m a fan of the pickles, especially when they get warm from the chicken. The consensus is that the sandwich is meant to be a product equivalent to something Chick-Fil-A might put out. Having only eaten at there in the 80s (at the Cerritos location), I can’t remember how good they were. I don’t think the McD’s version is as good, but it’s not bad for free.
They sure are doing a huge amount of promotion in general for these Southern Style Chicken sandwiches. I’m not sure if I’d get them if it wasn’t for free - so their nefarious plan to get me in the store seems to have worked. The coupons are good until June 30, so there’s plenty of time to pick one up (hopefully you had a recent order from Amazon) and see for yourself.
